Connecting People to Parks

Every week Conservation Volunteers are out and about at different parks around Auckland.

It’s part of an initiative between Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and the Auckland Council to help bring biodiversity back to our central parks and to give people who are interested in conservation a chance to get involved.

This week we will be visiting Eric Armishaw Resrve in Pt Chevalier.  On the shoreline of the Waitemata Harbour, Eric Armishaw Park is home to many migratory shorebirds including Little Pied Cormorant, White Faced Heron and Bar-Tailed Godwit.  Over the past 2 years, volunteers have been clearing invasive weeds and replanting with native plants to provide improved habitat for these and many other species.  We'd love your help today to continue this important work in a bid to bring back more birds to this and surrounding parks.

Each park has its own special characteristics, plants and wildlife and the conservation challenges for each area are very varied, so it’s a great chance to learn about biodiversity and how we can all make a difference to our environment.

Join us and help out your local parks.

Phone Siobhan on 0800 56 76 86 or email info@conservationvolunteers.co.nz to book. Bookings are essential.
