Connected Communities is Conservation Volunteers Australia's current schools program. With Boral’s support, we are able to assist school communities to educate and inspire young Australians to take action for the future of their environment.

Nestled between the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley, Coldstream Primary school is a school with a strong focus on connecting students with the natural world through hands-on learning. Since 2013, our volunteers have been helping the school to set up a number of planter boxes full of native plants, extend one of the school’s vegetable gardens, and create a frog bog in a neighbouring reserve. The focus of the project this year will be to create a Lizard Lounge in the school grounds - installing rocks and plants on an embankment to both provide habitat for small lizards in the school grounds, and to prevent further erosion of the slope.

On Tuesday 2nd August, our focus will be on moving rocks into position in prepartion for planting. This is taking place on a student free day, and no WWCC is required.

On Monday 27th August, our focus will be on finalising the rock work and planting native species to improve the habitat. Students will be assisting with the planting, and therefore a volunteer WWCC is essential. Please contact us if you require any assistance with this process.
