Join CVNZ on the Cobden Aromahana Sanctuary Recreation Area project, located on the Northern banks of the Grey river covering the Cobden Island and the Northern breakwater located within the township of Greymouth on the South Islands west Coast. The focus of the project is to conserve, protect and improve the biodiversity of the area by planting native trees and removal of introduced weeds. Old river channels have been cleared of introduced willows and new channels created and planted to enable new habitat for whitebait spawning within the wetland ecosystem that has been degraded over the years. The project also focuses on providing an interpretive aspect show casing the history of the area as well as providing a recreational area for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. Activities include planting, plant maintenance, weed removal, walking track construction and predator control
