Point Walter in Bicton is a popular site for many recreational activities including kitesurfing, windsurfing, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. The area boasts 140 degree views of the river and the location is notable for the large sandbar which extends into the River and for its natural limestone cliff formations. Because of these the site sustains large degrees of erosion during storm events and significant works have been done to reduce these impacts on the native vegetation. The foreshore areas provide habitat for a large array of water birds including migratory birds which visit once a year from as far away as Siberia.
Join Conservation Volunteers as we assist the City of Melville to maintain the erosion control efforts on the foreshore. We will be helping with weed removal and green stock maintenance.
