Carlton Mill Reserve is a little known gem on Carlton Mill Road to the north of Little Hagley Park. It runs alongside the Otakaro Avon River and is near the lovely Mill Brook Reserve. Managed by the Christchurch City Council, it attracts volunteer involvement from locals and schools. Riparian planting at this site will begin with local schools this winter.
Today we'll be helping Community Ranger Tamara with preparation for planting of this hidden gem by removing a number of exotic plant species.
The project will be from 9:30am-12:30pm, but feel free to come for whatever time you can.
Gloves, tools and morning tea will be provided. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear, a sunhat, and bring along a water bottle. We recommend lightweight long sleeves and trousers as protection from the sun and vegetation.
We'd love to see you there, so please register below. Contact Donna (dlusby@cvnz.org.nz) 021 457 568 for more information.
COVID-19: We will be following the advice from government and local council on all Covid-19 restrictions.
