- Departs from:
- 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide
- Departure time:
South Australian communities have been devestated by the fires at Cuddle Creek (Adelaide Hills) and Kangaroo Island the impact on wildlife has been catastrophic we all can help a little
This is a community workshop working with Kersbrook Landcare to start building shelter habitat ie Nesting boxes for possums ,birds ,bats, antechinus , owls etc in response to the bushfite wildlife crisis, will also include putting together PVC pipe water stations .
Most Eucalypt species do not form natural hollows until they are at least 100 years old.
Millions of hollows have been lost by these fires plus human urbanisation and the reality is animals may struggle to recover and not having available shelter homes will further challenge the remaining fauna .
This initiative is to have a surplus of boxes ready to start distributing and installing as the smoke clears and we can try to see where our support is most needed around South Australia in conjunction with local conservation and volunteer groups plus concerned community members who want to assist.
Come along on Saturday 18th and lend hand at the Joinery 111 Franklin Street
