After removing many pine trees from the streambanks of this newly purchased farm, the Burndreds have fenced hundreds of metres of stream, (with many more hundreds to still fence) and have an ambition to bring the stream banks back to ecological health by removing pest plants, controlling pest animals (possums and rodents) and planting thousands of New Zealand native trees. These trees, once grown will shade the stream, control erosion and sedimentation and provide food and habitat for native birds, lizards and insects. The volunteer teams visiting this bold project will be assisting with planting.
Join the team, we'd love to have your help.
