The project: Broger’s Creek located in Kangaroo Valley, is an absolutely beautiful part of the world and is also the location where the platypus sequences for David Attenborough's Secret Life of Mammals were filmed! We are building an interpretative walk incorporating edible and medicinal endemic plants that will serve to maintain a connection to country that is inherent in the local indigenous culture, and we need your help to plant everything!

The property: Broger’s End is born out of a vision and passion for transforming a rundown old farm into a haven of sustainable living and regenerated native landscape. It is set amongst permaculture gardens, on a 160 acre working farm with bush walking tracks to explore, abundant wildlife to observe, and breathtaking views of the Kangaroo Valley to admire. Broger’s End is located on the Kangaroo River – perfect for relaxing by and platypus watching.

The conservation activities: We will be helping Sarah and her son Alex, on their mission to regenerate the native forest with a focus on planting edible and medicinal trees used in local indigenous culture. This planting will also create a wildlife corridor from the remnant forest to the riparian zone. Daily activities will include planting and some weeding. There will be plenty of time to embark on bushwalks, observe wildlife, and relax and soak up the serenity of the property in the afternoons and evenings.

The accommodation: This is a converted farm shed, which has been lovingly and creatively transformed using recycled and reclaimed materials, including beautiful old windows and doors. There are three bedrooms with extra beds available, a very large living area with a wood fire, dining space, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor entertaining/dining space, pool table, pizza oven and BBQ. Staying in the rustic shed is an experience in itself! All accomodation and food is covered by a $40 per night fee. You can stay for a few nights or enjoy a week long stay.

So come and lend a hand in a stunning location only accessible to a select few, and contribute to the conservation of the property’s wildlife such as the enigmatic platypus – and maybe even spot one too!
