Breakout Creek is an artificial channel built in the 1930s to provide flood protection for the western suburbs. It has been very effective for flood management but until the completion of stage 1 and 2 of the Breakout Creek Wetlands, this area provided little natural habitat or recreational activities. The City of West Torrens remains focused on improving the wetlands as a community asset and wildlife habitat.
Join us to undertake site maintenance activities along Breakout Creek, including the removal of debris (both natural and man-made) that has heavily impacted the area after the flooding events in October, in addition to monitoring and improving the re-vegetation sites.
