We will be helping NSW Parks and Wildlife Service in the restoration of McLeod’s Creek Nature Reserve. The Reserve was established 2010 to protect a rare remnant of box-gum woodland, and although largely cleared for agriculture, the resultant grassland is a valuable opportunity to protect and recover this endangered community.  Many trees and shrubs and been planted since then, and maintenance is needed to protect the conservation value of the site.

We will be engaging in is the removal and maintenance of Cassinia arcuate, as there is too much of it in the Reserve, and the vegetation is out of balance.  Cassinia is a native species that is local to the Southern Tablelands region.  However, the dominance of Cassinia at the Reserve is undermining the conservation outcomes of the restoration program. This maintenance is critical in ensuring the box gum woodland can stay healthy and in balance.
