Imagine a forest alive with the sound of tui and a clean stream full of inanga and tuna/eels. Bothamley Park was once covered with dense native forest. So come help us to restore Bothamley Park where some of the old-growth forest still stands. Join us for a day of freshwater conservation and give back to your local community!

Bothamley Park is a large Y-shaped park which is sandwiched between the suburbs of Cannons Creek and Aotea in Porirua. The environment in the park is a mixture of old-stand native forest, ornamental exotic trees, and regenerating native bush.  Being located in close proximity to Belmont Regional Park, Bothamley Park is an important ecological corridor and is the home to a number of threatened bird and plant species. Shortjaw kokopu have been found in the stream running through the park. They are the rarest of the five whitebait species, usually only found as solitary fish or in low numbers at any given site. The other whitebait species also found here are inanga, banded kokopu, giant kokopu and koaro.

Join us and the Aotea Conservation Volunteer Community Group as we restore native flora to the area by controlling weeds and grasses.
