Discover Our Auckland Parks.
This project is part of our Connecting People With Parks programme, in partnership with Auckland Council, which runs every Tuesday and sometimes over the weekend. Each week we travel to an urban park in need throughout Auckland and undertake a variety of conservation tasks including weed removal, mulching, litter removal, nursery work, and planting. Tasks may include weed removal, planting, nursery work, mulching and litter pick. For all our projects you are assisted by a qualified team leader who guides you through the tasks and can help you to identify and learn about native species of fauna and flora and conservation.
Oakley Creek, also known as Te Auaunga, is located in west Auckland, flowing through Mt Roskill, Owairaka, Mt Albert, Avondale and Waterview for around 15 kilometres. Oakley Creek is the most natural stream left in the city and contains a 6 metre high waterfall - the only significant waterfall within Auckland City. The Friends of Oakley Creek are restoring the ecology of the area around the stream. Activities include stream bank planting, plant releasing and weed removal.
