This unique site represents the only possibility for Lake Macquarie to have a large-scale beach-fronting, yet close-to-suburbia community asset which combines valuable remnant ecological zones with potential for a diversity of public recreation and tourism. In combination with Lake Macquarie wetlands, its complex of seven wetlands could well, in time, qualify for Ramsar classification, as the site is visited by migratory species from Siberia and east Asia (China, Korea and Japan). CVA will assist the local community group with planting, weed control and other tasks.
