Aotea Lagoon is a seawater lagoon connected to Poriura Harbour by an underground culvert. The lagoon is used by a variety of shorebirds for feeding and resting and there is a butterfly garden at the northern end of the lagoon. We are seeking volunteers to help with a lagoon clean-up which involves using pool scoops to remove algae and litter from the lagoon on Saturday 9th November 10am - 3pm
What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots or gumboots, long sleeves, and long trousers essential. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a jacket, beanie, jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. Bring a full water bottle and snacks!
What we provide: an experienced team leader, gloves, tools and training. Free transport to/from the project available - let us know your preferred pick-up point via email
