Conservation Volunteer is collaborating with Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College (SCCVC) and First Hand Solutions to design and build an interactive and sustainable permaculture garden on the school grounds. Once established, this garden will become a long-term educational sustainability hub for the students to learn, appreciate and understand good environmental practices.
This garden will allow students to grow herbs and vegetables for use in their hospitality classes and Training Restaurants, recycle organic wastes produced by the school kitchens through the inclusion of a worm farm, and educate students about a range of native plants by creating a dedicated 'bush tucker' section.
This project will allow students and community volunteers the unique opportunity to work together to construct the proposed permaculture garden, allowing SCCVC to connect more readily with local members of the Burwood community.
