Waterview Sanctuary is part of the Pittwater Orielton Lagoon Ramsar Site and is an important feeding site for both resident and migratory water bird species.
This project is aimed at rejuvenating a specific area within the sanctuary. To achieve this volunteer teams will start by removing invasive weed species in the area including Boxthorn, Fennel and Marshmallow using. Various techniques will be taught and used to achieve the most successful results.
The second phase of the project will be undertaken in the wetter months. This phase will focus on increasing native vegetation and connecting current and established plants.
These activities will see the sanctuary restored to its natural habitat for the resident birdlife to enjoy.
