This week our conservation volunteers are headed up the scenic Gillies Range to Malanda to meet some Tree Kangaroos! This is a scenic area where patches of rainforest remain between areas of farmland. You will be helping to maintain a tree corridor which was planted over the last few years on a special property that connects up two sections of fragmented rainforest. The tree corridor is important because when it is mature it will allow animals such as cassowaries and tree kangaroos to move between the patches of rainforest. The property is home to the Tree Roo Rescue Centre where important rescue work is done to save tree kangaroos. You will be helping to clear weeds away from young trees as well as helping to clear some tracks in a section of private rainforest. Accommodation is camping and you will also get to meet some of the resident tree kangaroos, so bring your camera!
