In the words of Dr Alistair Richardson: "I love a good saltmarsh, and they certainly need friends". You can become a saltmarsh friend by being involved in bird and plant surveys of Tamar River estuary saltmarshes. Surveys normally take approximately 1-2 hours and may require moderate walks through muddy areas. We may also do some sea-spurge management as well after the surveys.
Start Times vary with each project day due to tide levels so check each day for details.We will provide transport from Launceston.
What to wear:
- Long pants and long sleeved shirt.
- Sturdy, enclosed shoes and bring gumboots if you have some (ask us if you don't).
What to bring:
- Morning tea, lunch and bottle of water
- Broad brimmed hat and wet weather gear (if needed)
What is provided:
- Tools and safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, sunscreen etc
- Tea, Coffee and Biscuits are provided each day
- Pick up and drop off as detailed above
