Tabcorp @ Dandenong Ranges - TABCORP EMPLOYEES ONLY

Sweet Pittosporum is an invasive native Australian tree with a stronger ecosystem than eucalyptus ecosystems. The invasive characteristics of the plant has put our existing eucalyptus ecosystem under threat, slowly taking over the native vegetation and eventually replace them. This means that not only our eucalyptus forests in the Dandenong Ranges are being destroyed but also impacting on the valuable habitat our wildlife, birds and insects use to breed.

At an invasion rate of 80 metres per year, the Dandenongs will be completely covered with pittosporum in 20 to 25 years – unless its invasion activity is controlled.

Conservation Volunteers Australia and a new community organisation, StopPitt  is working together to put a stop to the spread of Sweet Pittosporum.

You can be part of this amazing large scale weed removal project and help us protect the habitat of amazing wildlife, including Barking Owl, Growling Grass Frog and Painted Honeyeater!
