The coastal reserves of the metropolitan area are under threat om loss of flora and fauna biodiversity, weed invasion, uncontrolled access and vulnerability to erosion. The coastal environment is recognised as a priority for conservation by both the federal and state governments, as well as under local government coastal management plans.
Conservation volunteers will be working with Sorrento Coastcare to plant native coastal seedlings. This will improve biodiversity to reduce erosion, restore habitat value and reduce the weed biomass.
