Lake McKenzie is a stunningly beautiful lake that is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area on the Central Plateau of Tasmania. The alpine vegetation around the lake was severely burnt in last summers horrific bushfires but this has now provided us with an opportunity to clean up the lake and its surrounds while there is no undergrowth vegetation.

In conjunction with Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, we will be concentrating on litter collection both around campsites and around the lake but we may also be pulling out the invasive weed, Ragwort to control its spread into the alpine vegetation. In December we had a successful day collected litter from the area and we are keen to get back and continue the good work, plus tackle some ragwort.

We will provide transport from Launceston, departing at 8:00am on Saturday. Or if you live local you can meet on-site or at Mole Creek by prior arrangement. We will be returning to Launceston at approx. 5pm on Sunday.
