A state wide community based project aimed at assisting those affected by the June floods. This program is a partnership between Conservation Volunteers and TasNetworks, together we are delivering on ground assistance to improve and restore natural areas that were recently damaged. Volunteers will undertake activities such as debris removal, revegetation, erosion control techniques and fencing. Projects will be located on both private and community land and will be located in the Derwent Valley, East Coast, North and North West areas.
This particular project is on a private property that had installed brand new fencing only weeks prior to the floods. The fences were installed to prevent cattle from accessing the riverbanks. We will be using hands and rakes to remove dried out grass and sticks that are stuck to the fencing wire so that the wire does not start to rust and we will be repairing fences where needed. We will also be clearing flood debris from the paddocks.
This is a beautiful part of the world with a crystal clear river running through the property and a stunning view of Mt Roland right in front of us.
We will provide transport from Launceston, departing at 8:00am and returning around 4:00pm. Or if you live local you can meet on-site by prior arrangement.
