West Beach Retention Basin is an artificial channel built to provide flood protection for the western suburbs. It has been very effective for flood management, this area also provides natural habitat and recreational activities. The City of West Torrens remains focused on improving the wetlands as a community asset and wildlife habitat through weed control.
