Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, otherwise known as Zealandia, is Wellington’s premiere environmental project. Situated in the heart of the city and enclosed by an 8.6 km long predator proof fence, it provides a safe haven in which some of New Zealand’s most endangered birds, reptiles, and insects are thriving. Our tasks inside Zealandia include keeping the perimeter fence clear of vegetation, wood chipping, track construction, and many other things which are important to the ongoing success of the sanctuary. We don’t always have our heads in the bushes though, and there’s sure to be time in which you can just wander through the forest keeping your eyes peeled for a colourful kakariki, a prehistoric takahe, or a sun bathing tuatara. http://www.visitzealandia.com/
We would love your help. Please join us and help protect this most precious resource in the heart of Wellington City.
