HABITAT HUNT! @Plough and Harrow East
This special site is within the Western Sydney Parklands and contains stands of Cumberland Plain Woodland, a critically endangered vegetation community. We are actively encouraging local residents to become involved in the protection of this precious area. Some species found here are found nowhere else in the world!
This month, participants will be involved in a HABITAT HUNT! We will learn about the animals that live in the Cumberland Plain Woodland, then take a walk on the trails to identify and record their habitat. With our expert Team Leader and a keen eye, you'll be able to spot some really interesting animal life. This will help us to know what's living there and how we can best help. We'll also spend a few hours improving and protecting the animal habitat through weed identification and removal and planting native trees and shrubs.
Meet at 9:30am on site at car park near cafe and amenities block and finish 3.00pm. This project has an optional pickup point at Blacktown Station. Please contact the office to reserve your spot as seats are limited.
ESSENTIAL ITEMS: Please wear sturdy boots, long pants, a long sleeved shirt and bring a hat, sunscreen and water. Morning tea will be provided but bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic in the bush with the kangaroos!
If for any reason you ca n not make it on the day or if you are going to be late or can not find the meeting point, please contact our Team Leader, Tom on 0438 233 389. If you need any more information please email westernsydney@conservationvolunteers.com.au or give the Western Sydney office a call on 02 4721 4625.
