Community Weed Alliance of the Dandenongs needs your help to reduce the weed infestations surrounding the Puffing Billy Corridor. The corridor forms an important part of the bio link which stretches from the Dandenongs in the West to Bunyip State Parks in the East.
The corridor includes significant plants such as the Slender Tree-fern and Summer Spider Orchid. This diversity of habitat allows the area to support a large range of fauna, including the famous Superb Lyrebird which has a fascinating ability to mimic other bird calls and noises it hears. Heavily-scarred eucalypt trees are evidence of the night-time feeding of Yellow-bellied Gliders, and tiny Feather-tail Gliders make their homes in the hollows of mature trees.
But the environmental weeds such as English ivy, wandering trad, sweet pittosporum, English holly, angled onion, and sycamore maple pose the biggest threat to the habitats of our native wildlife.
Be part of our weed blitz program and learn how invasive weed species can impact our environment and what we can do to help reduce them.
8am pick up and 4pm drop off at Belgrave Train Station.
