Enjoy being part of the Conservation Volunteers Australia team that helps to beautify and protect the heritage atmosphere of one of Australia’s top tourist attractions, as well as conserving environmental values by joining our Historic Sovereign Hill Gardening and Landscaping Project in the heart of the Goldfields of Ballarat.

You will be participating in gardening and various ground maintenance activities, including removing  stubborn invasive weeds from around the old mining grounds, mulching of garden areas to assist in the supression of small invasive weeds, and planting native trees and shrubs to help with erosion control, to provide habitat for native birds, reptiles and other animals and to make the grounds around Sovereign Hill more appealing for visitors to relax in.

Sovereign Hill is Australia’s foremost outdoor museum,  re-creating Ballarat’s first ten years after the discovery of gold in 1851 when thousands of international adventurers rushed to the Australian goldfields in search of fortune.  It is a place where history comes to life as you step back in time and are welcomed by costumed goldfields characters re-living an era where people discovered a new-found wealth on the Goldfields of Ballarat.
