Today we will be conducting the monthly marine debris clean up along 4 Mile Beach in Port Douglas.

Currently 18,000 pieces of plastic are estimated to float in every square kilometre of ocean.  276 species worldwide including 77 Australian species are impacted by marine debris.
Not only does the removal of marine debris reduces the negative impact it has on both local and worldwide wildlife but if we can determine the source of the debris we can target those sources to reduce waste

Volunteer tasks include picking up marine debris, sorting debris into categories, weighing rubbish and recording data.
